CfOR Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Associate

Increasing demand for observational research (now commonly referred to as real-world evidence (RWE) from regulatory and reimbursement authorities makes observational research a key component of drug development and commercialization. Amgen's Center for Observational Research (CfOR) is a global organization with an industry-leading analytical capability that generates RWE to support business needs across a product’s lifecycle.

CfOR scientists’ partner with internal team members and industry experts to design, conduct, interpret and publish observational research that informs decision-making from the early development of a molecule to the design of clinical trials and the safety and efficacy of Amgen medicines.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be focused on contracting, budgets and operations support in CfOR’s growing Obesity portfolio and other CfOR-wide initiatives. They will provide, as needed, project management support ensuring metrics are tracked and visible to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to a team of Observational Research Scientists specializing in real-world evidence.

  • Conduct regular meetings with strategic suppliers and study leads to discuss operational activities.

  • Collaborate with cross functional team, including Legal, Global Strategic Sourcing, Compliance, Supplier Governance, Safety and Finance.

  • Implement and manage contracts with commercial vendors, Healthcare Providers (HCPs), and academic institutions.

  • Ensure engagements with Healthcare Providers adhere to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Manage payment inquiries that are received from HCPs, Scientists, Service Providers, etc. Outcome may include further reviews, research, or triage.

  • Plan and track study spend and report changes to finance and budget holders.

  • Perform supplier qualification reviews and assist in the bidding process if required.

  • Identify potential department/cross functional process improvement activities.

  • Track and review study achievements and vendor results ensuring accurate data population within internal systems.

  • Complete financial transactions, including purchase order processing, invoice verification, payment processing, and engaging with other functions to help plan and mange resource expenses, using Anaplan, Ariba or SAP software.

  • Ensure workflows for responsible areas are updated regularly.

  • Advance the use of productivity tools in the organization, such as Teams, Copilot, Smartsheet and Miro

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and experience in project management, contracts, budgets and operations

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of project management, contracts, budgets and operations experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 6 years of project management, contracts, budgets and operations experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of project management, contracts, budgets and operations experience

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
