Our International Development Group seeks a Client Service Leader based in Indonesia to join our diverse and dynamic global team delivering world-class expertise for locally led sustainable development in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe. Founded in 1947, our firm has been a trusted partner in international development since our first assignment in Colombia in 1960 and in Indonesia since 1975.

Our Client Service Leader will bring wide-ranging experience with bilateral donor- and multilateral development bank-funded infrastructure implementation and institutional development in Indonesia, with broader experience across South-Eastern Asia an advantage for expected growth opportunities. Client-focused and determined to deliver world-class expertise for locally led sustainable development, you will lead our strategy formulation, marketing, and business growth in Indonesia and support business development in South-Eastern Asia. You will collaborate with fellow client service leaders who share responsibility for bringing our capabilities to the sustainable development of Indonesia and the region. You will deliver profitable growth, monitoring and pursuing new business opportunities where client needs and our capabilities are aligned, recruiting key staff, identifying partners with a commitment to integrity, excellence, teamwork and initiative, and monitoring our project performance to assure client satisfaction. The selected candidate will initially be contracted through a consultancy agreement with CDM Smith.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Formulate and lead our marketing and new business strategy for international development in Indonesia, collaborating with client service leaders responsible for selected donors across the Asia-Pacific region.

  2. Position our firm in Indonesia and the region by discovering new clients and new types of opportunities through active marketing campaigns, existing relationships, technical presentations, brand reputation, and other activities; by evaluating clients for alignment with our services and the value we can provide; and, by building high-value, multi-dimensional relationships with clients.

  3. Pursue specific project opportunities in Indonesia and the region following a defined capture strategy to increase our ability to win new work and deliver profitable projects that our clients find of high value by identifying opportunities, assembling pursuit teams, developing pricing strategies, developing high-value offers, negotiating contracts, and obtaining client feedback among other requirements

  4. Maintain engagements with clients during project implementation in Indonesia.

  5. Coordinate with our project delivery team to ensure profitability.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Ensure regional sales compliance with CDM Smith procedures and Code of Ethics.

• Participate in the development and implementation of our international development strategy that promotes a sustainable Indonesian presence and drives regional growth.

• Establish and manage sales and business development budgets including regular monitoring and reporting on progress.

• Lead the preparation and management of proposals, including major proposals with CDM Smith as prime contractor and multiple teaming partners in subcontracting or joint venture arrangements.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with targeted donors in Indonesia and the region.

• Partner with delivery team to ensure client satisfaction, by conducting performance audits.

• Establish strategic partnerships with organizations to team with CDM Smith in new pursuits.

• Work with marketing team to develop materials for campaigns, conferences, etc.

• Participate in internal technical transfer activities to share best practices across the firm.

• Identify and implement strategies to meet longer-term funding needs, including identifying and pursuing funding opportunities with donors and development banks based in Asia-Pacific.

• Travel within Indonesia and the region depending on business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, business, engineering, science, construction management, or other relevant discipline.

Experience:

• 10 years of relevant experience in Indonesia, including at least 5 years of business development experience managing proposals for complex donor-funded / development bank-financed projects and programs.

Skills:

• Advanced client communications skills, including the ability to understand concerns and a high degree of responsiveness.

• Advanced knowledge of proposal evaluation by host country agencies, donors and development banks.

• Advanced interpersonal skills.

• Advanced ability to build and leverage alliances with other firms.

• Intermediate knowledge of project management and how to achieve expected profitability.

• Advanced presentation skills.

• Knowledge of project financials and contract terms and conditions.

• Fluent in Bahasa and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference for candidates with experience in water, environment, transportation, energy, or facilities markets, including infrastructure implementation, institutional development, capacity building, community development, gender equity and social inclusion, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

• Preference for candidates in metropolitan Jakarta, though open to candidates based in other locations in Indonesia with a compelling rationale

• Regional business development experience in Asia-Pacific preferred

• Preference for candidates with multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team experience
