Operating Room Scheduler- Surgical Service- Full Time- Days

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision performs a variety of scheduling functions at the O.R. control desk or scheduler's office using a computerized system. Creates a 48-hour draft of the O.R. schedules, independently moves cases to vacant opening. Resolves scheduling conflicts with surgical specialties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.

  • Advanced education, college degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years minimum experience preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in the work environment; must be able to read, write, and speak English.

  • Computer skills required.

  • Medical Terminology Data Entry/Keyboarding Computer software, i.e.., Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access

  • Time management Successful completion of 120-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.
