UPMC Lead Sonographer - Maternal Fetal Medicine in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

UPMC offers a $6,000 sign on bonus with a 2-year commitment for new hires.

In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.

This position works from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with sonographers when necessary.

  • Performs ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced sonographer.

  • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of sonographer candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.

  • May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment.

  • Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.

  • Assists with quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols alongside of or in place of advanced sonographers and communicates results back to departmental leadership.

  • Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.

  • 3 years of ultrasound experience required. Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/Solid performance on last performance review. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: RDMS Registered required. CPR or BLS Preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
