JOB TITLE:UTILITY CUSTODIAN\ \ REPORTS TO:Maintenance Director\ \ JOB SUMMARY:Performs daily and long-term maintenance and care of buildings and grounds. Work part-time as a custodian and maintenance. All other duties and requests assigned by Maintenance Director.\ \ QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrates ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below.\ \ DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\ \

  1. Operates and cares for a variety of equipment including vacuum cleaners, buffers, floor scrubbers, etc.
  2. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips and buffs floors.
  3. Dusts washes, waxes, polishes furniture and woodwork.
  4. Washes inside and outside windows, blinds, floors and walls.
  5. Empties and cleans outside waste receptacles.
  6. Cleans restrooms, drinking fountains and all plumbing fixtures.
  7. Loads and unloads furniture, supplies, materials, etc.
  8. Help set up rooms for meetings
  9. Removes snow from walkways as needed.
  10. Performs general maintenance work on buildings and grounds.
  11. Reports potential safety and health problems to supervisor.
  12. Completes records and reports as required.
  13. Opens and secures buildings as required.
  14. Deals with students, parents, staff and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
  15. Knows and follows school policy and chain of command.
  16. Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  17. Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

\ The employment period shall be for 260 days which includes 8 legal holidays. Holidays include:\ \

  • New Year\'s Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day

\ All non-certificated staff not under contract are under \"at will employment\". Their positions shall be considered in all respects \"employment at will\" and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The \"employment period\" and other descriptions and terms set forth in their job descriptions shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues.\ \ The employment period shall be for twelve (12) months with vacations as specified by district rules and regulations.
