SUMMARY The Director of Safety & Security will develop and implement safety and physical security programs that support the global strategic plan. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and development of the Office of Safety and Security to effectively enable North America Covetrus Operations, directly reporting to the VP, North America Center Led Quality & Regulatory Affairs, PIC. Develop, coordinate, and implement safety, regulatory compliance, and occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations for Covetrus. Develop, coordinate, and implement physical security policies, inclusive of access control management, that allow Covetrus to provide the safest working environment possible and adjust security coverage in a responsive manner. Provide safety and security input as a key organizational stakeholder for business strategy planning sessions (example: Business continuity planning, Emergency preparedness planning, etc.) Develop, supervise, and conduct training plans while directing and implementing organization safety and security programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. Oversee the organization's Occupational Safety and Health programs, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the safe operation and financial success of the organization. Oversee the organization's Physical Security programs, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the secure operation and financial success of the organization. Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to build a safety-first culture of excellence through engagement and accountability, cascading the strategic vision to tactical action. Develop and maintain a highly professional work environment and culture; develop and train staff in progressive safety and security business practices. Champion the effective use of change management principles, strategies, and techniques to plan, implement and evaluate change. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Environmental Health and Safety Manager and Hazardous Materials Specialist EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Political Science, Security Management or another related field. Master of Business Administration preferred. At least ten (10) years of combined security and safety experience in a global and industrial environment required. Must have at least ten (10) years of increasing leadership responsibility. Must have experience leading managers and working with senior level staff. Knowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for the United States. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certificate in Leadership considered a plus COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to supervise and conduct training. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with the proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels. Exceptional facilitation, negotiation, and influential skills - requires the ability to lead large cross-functional/global groups to reach consensus on a conclusion or decision.
