Universal Health Services Cancer Registry Data Abstractor Full Time Days in BRADENTON, Florida

Responsibilities

Understands and is knowledgeable of all the requirements of abstracting cancer registry cases including assigning ICD-0 cancer codes; reportable and non-reportable cancer cases as required by the Florida Cancer Data System and the National Cancer Database; data required for each reportable malignant and benign site; terminology specific to abstracting process; and state and federal cancer data reporting guidelines. Assist with casefinding processes, follow up of all applicable cases in accordance with CoC requirements, maintenance of data quality assurance, and assist with all other cancer program activities, as needed. Demonstrates strong Service Excellence standards as required by employment.

    Qualifications

    High school graduate or GED; Associate’s degree preferred; CTR, CTR eligible.

    Experience with Microsoft Office preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently.

    Two years cancer registry abstracting experience, with working knowledge of cancer registry abstracting systems and electronic medical records. Experience with ERS/CRStar and Cerner PowerChart preferred, but not required.

    Knowledge of ICD-O manual, STORE manual, SEER Heme/Lymph Database, SEER Solid Tumor Rules, current AJCC Staging, Summary Stage, Extent of Disease, and SSDI’s, NCCN Guidelines and all other necessary manuals/rules necessary to accurately abstract cancer cases. Knowledge of clearing edits prior to completing abstracts for submission. Knowledge of casefinding and follow up activities.

    Maintains the CTR credential and all continued education requirements for maintenance. Must pass the Florida Cancer Data System abstractor test annually.
