Bozeman Health Sonographer I- FT (0.9 FTE) in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

The Sonographer I - Inpatient provides ultrasound (US) health care services to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs US procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in OB/GYN or abdominal/small parts or is registry eligible and obtains certification within one year of date of hire

  • Minimum of 2 years of radiology experience or graduation from accredited ultrasound school

  • American Heart Association BLS within three months of hire

  • Previous experience and competencies including, but not limited to, the following exams: Portable studies, trauma (ED), NICU, L&D, OR, and CCU

  • Preferred: 1 year of post-graduation experience working in ultrasound

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs US exams and procedures in an inpatient setting.

  • Assists the Radiologists and other medical staff during exams and procedures.

  • Completes documentation, in designated area, of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.

  • Performs ancillary duties as required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.

  • Retrieves and reviews previous studies, reports, written orders, and related health information to ensure the timely performance and reporting of US exams and procedures.

  • Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the organization's quality indicators as described in the strategic plan.

  • Works independently in a highly complex, acute care inpatient setting.

  • Expectation to support and train peers.

  • Be available to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, and participate in call rotation to support acute care services.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.

  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment.

  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality.

  • Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

Schedule

  • This role supports the hospital 24 hours daily and employees are expected to work varied shifts.
