The intern will assist the Cultural Resource Section by researching past archeological projects and survey data. Work involves creating and curating data and mapping to assist with existing archeology predictive models. Work involves researching, and gathering survey data from project files, and gathering or creating data sets. Will also develop and update various maps for testing the efficiency of TxDOTandrsquo;s Potential Archeological Liability Models (PALM) using GIS/desktop software. May also involve research, analysis, and other entry-level activities in support of on-going transportation project delivery efforts within the division. Work requires interaction with multiple offices within the division and with teammates. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Essential Duties:Assists in maintaining confidential information and records.Performs preliminary research on assignments and gathers pertinent data.Performs data entry and computer-aided analysis of data.Assists with routine analysis.May accompany division staff on related field assignments.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
