WellStar is currently seeking a Histologic Technologist to work fulltime days.
Under general supervision of the Histology/Cytology Manager, WellStar Health System Laboratory and direct supervision of the Resource Histotechnologist, the Histologic Technologist is responsible for the complete preparation of all routine surgicals, autopsy tissues including frozen section, send out procedures, processing, cutting, staining and cover slipping. This individual also performs cytology
preparation, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry (Antibody optimizing and validation) have general knowledge of techniques, principles, instrumentation and troubleshooting abilities. Confirms and distribute completed surgical cases and reports, some clerical duties involving filing, retrieving tumor and consult requests, and have full knowledge of regulatory policies.
Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma from an accredited institution.
Required Minimum License/Certification: Histologic Technologist (HT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certified or eligible.
Required Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills: Histology training, histochemistry, Immuohistochemsitry skills, Histology Safety Regulatory knowledge, Anatomical Pathology computer training. Must have absolute integrity in the tasks performed and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
