Responsibilities

The WellStar Professional Development Unit is hiring a System Nurse Residency Program Lead to join its team. The System Nurse Residency Program Lead is responsible for oversight and supervision of the RN Residency Program and program coordinators which include assessing; developing, implementing and evaluating the educational programs aimed at successful transition to practice of the new graduate Registered Nurse through professional development. This individual leads the development of professional role competency and professional growth of nurses in a variety of clinical settings. Supports lifelong learning of nurses and fosters an appropriate climate for the adult learning process. Functions in a collaborative role with Onboarding; Organizational Learning; Human Resources, Talent Acquisition; and nurse leaders across the health system during the first 12-months of a new graduate nurse transitioning into practice. Assures efficient use of people, supplies, and finances to meet stewardship goals of the

organization. Supports and operationalizes the centralized onboarding-based residency model. Serves as a liaison between disciplines and departments in assuring a smoothly coordinated residency program, including facilitating

meetings, and communicating and collaborating with many different members of the care team. Exercises sound judgment in adapting and applying human resource policies to specific situations and act as a performance coach.

Coordinates, elevates, and resolves problems and conflicts as they occur and assures compliance with nursing scope of practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education : Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in specialty

Required Minimum Certification : Current licensure as a registered professional nurse (RN) in the State of Georgia; national certification in nursing professional development preferred.

Required Minimum Experience :Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience. 3 or more years of experience in leadership, training, education required.

Required Minimum Skills : Project management and implementation skills. Management, budget, onboarding clinical staff experience. Knowledge of adult learning theory, quality improvement models.

Exhibits evidence of evolving leadership in not only their educational initiatives but in their leadership skills through one or more of the following:

1) Trains and serves as a preceptor/mentor for new educators; as member of local governance or committee

structures;

2) Actively involved in performance improvement projects in their unit/department;

3) Conducts baseline research on educational programs and shares in public forums such as publications,

conferences, etc.

4) Models education programs on Evidence Based Practice and conducts evaluations.

One of the following American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics certifications required :

• • BLS (Basic Life Support)

• • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

• • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program

• • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
